So What IS Pole Dancing? Pole Fitness? Pole Gymnastics?

The pole is a versatile tool that can be used in many ways & in our classes we aim to touch on at least two of those ways.

Dance – to move the feet and body rhythmically,usually in time to music’

If you’re looking at the ‘usually in time to music’ part and thinking ‘”well that’s me out then!” There is a term called artistic license :D that means you can adapt and change it as much ( whether it be off beat :P ) as you like!

Fitness – ‘the state of being physically fit’

No matter what ‘state’ you arrive in you are guaranteed to end up fitter than when you arrived!

Gymnastics – involving or demonstrating athleticism and agility’

Now this one is an option as not everyone wants to learn to go upside down & dangle from their toes!


In sports such as Golf , Football, you gain so many attributes. You learn a new skill, welcome the fitness gains & enjoy the social side that comes with the sport. Whether it be day trips out to compete against other local groups or nights out after competitions. Pole is very similar!

New Skills – Fitness Gains – Social Events

Pole Dancing can physically, emotionally & mentally enrich your life. Ask yourself WHY do you want to learn or try Pole Dancing? I bet it’s in one of the reasons below….

“I want to get fitter, I’m BORED of the gym”

“I’m not getting results from the gym”

“I hate my body & I feel everyone’s looking at me when I go to the gym”

“I want to learn a new skill”

“I want to be able to show off at parties”

“My ‘ex’ would never have let me do it! Now they’re out of the picture, I wanna try it!”

“I want to be more confident”

“I am a mum & I don’t feel sexy anymore”

“My friend does it and she LOVES it!”

“I’ve had a wake up call, Life is too short to sit back & think what if!”

I have to say …. I ticked a couple of those boxes before I started. Now I’m hooked!!!

Pole Dancing ( in my opinion ) is socially more fun than the gym. If you focus on playing hard and working hard then you can learn a new skill as well as tone your muscles and increase your flexibility whilst having fun & socialising. Sometimes the fun can outweigh the exercise but don’t worry I’ll get you with the ‘sit ups’ before you leave.

It’s a slippery slope though it’s like Pringles…Once you start….

(except it won’t make you feel fat & guilty if you have too much of it!! :D )
